The most common mowing mistake we see isn't cutting too short — it's cutting on a rigid schedule instead of a schedule that matches how fast the grass is actually growing.
During peak growing season (typically May through June in southwest Missouri), weekly mowing is usually necessary to avoid removing too much leaf blade at once. In the heat of summer or during dry spells, growth slows down and bi-weekly can be enough. In early spring and late fall, growth is slower still.
A good guideline is the "one-third rule": never remove more than a third of the grass blade height in a single cut. If you're regularly cutting off more than that, it's a sign your mowing frequency needs to catch up with your grass's growth rate.
This is exactly why we offer weekly, bi-weekly, and one-time scheduling — so your service actually matches your lawn instead of a one-size-fits-all calendar.
